The report 2016 Africa Water and Sanitation Sector Report is the fourth in African Ministers’ Council on Water’s (AMCOW) series of monitoring progress in the water and sanitation sector in Africa. Based on a revised monitoring and reporting framework developed by AMCOW, it assesses progress across seven thematic areas such as water resources management, WASH services, governance, and financing. Drawing on data submitted by 42 African countries, the report also highlights persistent challenges in sanitation, wastewater treatment, financing, and data availability.
