The mid-term status report on SDG indicator 6.3.2 on the proportion of bodies of water with good ambient water quality is the outcome of the 2023 Integrated monitoring initiative for SDG goal 6. A total of  120 countries have reported on the indicator compared to 89 countries in 2022. This increased engagement is a positive sign, however many low- and middle-income countries urgently need to enhance their monitoring capabilities to clearly demonstrate progress on Target 6.3.
