This ground-breaking project assessed the status and trends of the world’s 286 transboundary river basins, shared by 156 countries. The assessment included 15 key indicators on water quantity, water quality, ecosystems, governance and socioeconomics. A 2010 baseline was set, with projections to 2030 and 2050.
The assessment was completed under the River Basins component of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Transboundary Waters Assessment Programme (TWAP) (2010-2016).
