UNEP-DHI at World Water Week 2024

World Water Week 2024 will focus on water cooperation for peace and security. The theme Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future encourages us to recognize the regional and global interconnectivity of communities and nations, and highlights the collaborative effort needed to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future. 

UNEP-DHI and DHI will be present and take part in the following sessions: 

Sunday 25 August: 

  • 11:00 – 12:30, C3, Level 2 – Water quality cooperation for building peace from source-to-sea (UNEP) 
  • 16:00 – 16:20, Talkshow Studio, Level 5  – Freshwater Challenge – mobilising transboundary action to achieve ambitious goals (UNEP) 

Monday 26 August:  

  • 11:00 – 12:30 – Water Partnerships for Collective Action–bridging borders between Stakeholders (DHI) 

Tuesday 27 August 

  • 09:00 – 09:20, Talkshow Studio, Level 5 – Leveraging Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for ecosystem resilience and water security (UNEP-DHI Centre) 
  • 9:00 – 10:30, C4, Level 2 – The “Hub of Hubs:” knowledge-sharing platform for peace (DHI) 
  • 16:00-17:30, Room 26, Level 2 – A Hydro-Extreme Serious Game: Managing Disasters and Conflicts (DHI) 

Wednesday 28 August 

  •  11:00-12:30, C4, Level 2 – The Data Speaks: Status update of SDG 6 (UNEP) 

Thursday 29 August 

  •  9:00 – 10:30 – A changing climate from source-to-sea: nature-based solutions in transitional waters (UNEP & DHI)
