We support inclusive green growth and stability through effective and innovative water resources management. Our work includes policy advice and technical assistance from the global level to the local level. A large part of our work involves the design and implementation of water management and information tools, and related capacity building programmes. The activities of the UNEP-DHI Centre support the implementation of UNEP’s freshwater strategy and achieving the water-related targets in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

We focus on the following action areas: 

– Water management action: Supporting implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM) at all levels and assisting countries towards achievement of SDG 6 targets.  

– Environment action: Policy advice, science-based assessments, and decision supports tools to improve understanding of the value of freshwater ecosystems, and their management under changing conditions. 

– Climate action: Building climate resilience in countries through design and implementation of advanced science-based tools for effective planning and management of floods, droughts and water scarcity.
