Findings show global progress towards IWRM implementation has increased from 49% in 2017 to 57% in 2023. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the custodian agency for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.1 on integrated water resources management (IWRM) implementation, with UNEP-DHI responsible for supporting countries to monitor and report, including through the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme.
Data from the third round of global reporting on SDG indicator 6.5.1 are now live on the IWRM Data Portal. The portal contains all country reports, summaries, and the full global dataset. Across three reporting cycles, 191 countries have submitted data on SDG 6.5.1, with 137 of these reporting in all three rounds.
