Mainstreaming Gender Equality in Water Resources Management: Global status and 7 pathways to progress

The 2025 Policy Note on Mainstreaming Gender in Water Resources Management serves as a call to action for practitioners in water management and gender mainstreaming. With only five years left to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 on gender equality and SDG 6 on water and sanitation, urgent action is needed to scale up efforts and accelerate joint progress.

2024 edition of online course: Gender and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)

Gender and Integrated Water Resources Management, developed in partnership with UNEP -DHI,  Cap-Net UNDP, Gender Water Alliance (GWA) and Global water Partnership (GWP), is an online, free and self-paced course that offers six modules designed to help practitioners integrate gender in all aspects of sustainable water management.

UN Women launches 2024 gender snapshot report, featuring inputs from UNEP-DHI

The UNEP-DHI Centre contributed to the 2024 gender snapshot conclusions on SDG 6, to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. The report highlights how women are central to water collection and use, but marginalized in water management, plans and decisions.
